November 23rd is Autochthonous Forest Day, a date specially dedicated to the appreciation and protection of Portugal's native forest species. This celebration comes as an alternative to World Forest Day (March 21), adapted to the climatic conditions of our territory, which are more favorable to planting trees in autumn.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of the native forest and actively contribute to its recovery by planting native trees and shrubs. The action is part of the continuity of the work started by students from the municipality of Odemira, as part of the life Charcos project (life12nat/en/997), in an area previously occupied by the invasive species chorão-das-praias.
Venue: Interpretation Center for the Mediterranean Temporary Ponds of Southwest Alentejo (near the access to Praia do Malhão)
