Cinema nativa presents: "Occupied Territories" (2022)

We bring you a documentary that is also an exercise in collective memory.

"Occupied Territories" is the story of dispossession as told by the people of the Caramulo mountains. The people speak of their lives following the violent occupation and afforestation of their communal lands by the state in 1941. They speak of poverty and emigration, of the ruptures and wounds inflicted by the violent course of history, and recount their resistance to this expropriation. They also retain memories of a time when communities were built upon a collective understanding of the territory that surrounded them.
