Childhood Takes Over the Multipurpose Pavilion on World Children’s Day
Do you still remember what it was like to be a child? There is an age when the whole world fits into a street 🏡, a game ⚽, a story 📚, a laugh 😄, or a hastily invented adventure 🚀. Being a child means turning the simple into the extraordinary, inventing worlds from almost nothing, and finding in play one of the most beautiful ways to grow up.
Recognizing the importance of play, imagination, and socialization in children’s development, the Municipality of Ourique celebrates World Children’s Day on June 1 with a program specially designed for the municipality’s children at the Ourique Multipurpose Pavilion.
Throughout the day, the little ones will visit different activity stations designed to stimulate play, creativity, curiosity, movement, team spirit, and social interaction. The program combines recreational, educational, and sports activities in an environment designed for learning, experimenting, and smiling.
From the Family Puzzle to the Playful Books, from the Magical Journey to the Safe School, from the Dance of the Stars to the Extreme Adventure Mission, each activity was designed to highlight what is most important in childhood: curiosity, joy, imagination, and the right to play.
The initiative is sponsored by the Municipality of Ourique, with support from the Ourique CPCJ, the GNR Safe School, the Ourique Volunteer Fire Department, the CLDS 5G Ourique, and the parish councils of the municipality.
It should be noted that World Children’s Day was officially established in 1950, following the congress of the International Democratic Women’s Federation held in 1949 in Paris. Portugal, like many other countries, adopted this day to celebrate Children’s Day with the aim of raising awareness about children’s rights and the need to promote improved living conditions, with a view to their full development.
Happy Children’s Day!
