“Summer Rain” is the new exhibition by CACE – State Contemporary Art Collection, presented at the Sines Arts Center, which brings together a significant collection of works by established and emerging artists, reflecting the diversity and vitality of contemporary artistic production in Portugal.

As part of the collection’s national touring program, this exhibition offers a sensitive and expansive interpretation of the imagery associated with summer, taking as its starting point the experience of beach life and the forms of social interaction, leisure, and belonging that it evokes.

Structured around thematic clusters—ranging from the human and the animal to imaginary geographies and bodies in suspension— the exhibition invites reflection on the permeability of identities and spaces, drawing upon instinctive, utopian, and sensory dimensions. At the same time, it is part of a framework of itinerancy and institutional collaboration, reinforcing CACE’s commitment to the circulation of artistic heritage and the expansion of its contexts of reception.

In parallel with this exhibition, the curatorial program will include an education and outreach project titled “Silly Season,” focused on communication and access to contemporary art through training sessions grounded in initiatives that address contemporary themes in an engaging and appealing way.

The result of a partnership between Museus e Monumentos de Portugal, e.p.e. and the Municipality of Sines, the exhibition is the result of a project developed within the framework of the Portuguese Contemporary Art Network (Directorate-General for the Arts), in partnership with the Sines Arts Center and mudas – Madeira Museum of Contemporary Art.
