There are voices that emerge associated with time, and Sérgio Godinho belongs to the rare kind that helps us traverse it. Over decades, he has built a body of work that has not remained confined, creating songs that have become collective memory and the skin of our wind. With his gift for words, his books emerged without deviation, as a natural continuation of his constant attention to the world and to people.
Tonight, at Mirabolante, he presents "Como se não houvesse amanhã" (As if there were no tomorrow), a book of short stories in which the writing has been refined to its essence. At eighty years of age, millennia of songs, words, and freedom are now condensed into intense stories, inhabited by characters on the brink of love, downfall, death, desire, or salvation. Lives that burn with their wings close to the fire, forced to choose their immediate path. Welcoming Sérgio Godinho to Mirabolante is, for us, more than welcoming an author, it is making room for someone who has always known that artistic creation can be an impetuous force in the world: critical, affectionate, restless. Expanding the horizons of an entire world.
