🎉 School Carnival 2026 – Street Party

On February 13, the joy of the School Carnival returns to the streets of Santiago do Cacém.

🎉 Join the little ones and come and enjoy Carnival!

The traditional Carnival parades will be enlivened by almost two thousand children, preschool and elementary school students from the municipality's school groups, as well as private institutions and social welfare institutions, who will leave the classroom to color the streets of all the parishes.

The 2026 Schools Carnival – Folia na Rua will be on the streets of Abela, Alvalade, Cercal do Alentejo, Ermidas-Sado, São Bartolomeu da Serra, São Domingos, Santiago do Cacém, Vale de Água, and Vila Nova de Santo André.

📍 In case of adverse weather conditions at the time of the outdoor parades, they will be held in schools, with the exception of Santiago do Cacém, which will be held in the Municipal Sports Pavilion.

    Medieval Alvalade 2026 For three days—September 18, 19, and 20—the town of Alvalade “dresses up in full regalia” for what is one of the largest medieval fairs on the Iberian Peninsula. This event, likened to an authentic immersive history lesson, commemorates the granting of the Manueline Charter to this town in 1510. This year’s festival is themed “From Illness to Healing.” A new theme every year. The historical reenactment aims to mark the 516th anniversary of the granting of the Town Charter, which took place on September 20, 1510, by King Manuel I.
