Christine McPherson, or “Lady Bird”, as she prefers to be called, is finishing high school and dreams of leaving Sacramento to go to college far from home. Her mother, a hardworking nurse struggling to support the family, doesn’t quite see her future the same way.
Between friendships, first loves, heartbreaks, conflicts with her mother and a growing desire for independence, Lady Bird navigates the uncertainties of adolescence as she tries to discover who she wants to be and where she belongs.
A funny and moving coming-of-age story about growing up, the relationship between parents and children, and that moment in life when we long to leave, even before we fully understand what we are leaving behind.
