The auditorium of the Sines Arts Center will host the concert "Passion, Death, Resurrection: Stabat Mater, by g. b. Pergolesi" on Saturday, October 11, at 9:30 p.m., by the Coro della Farnesina, from Rome, with musical direction by the Italian-Venezuelan conductor Fabiola Pereira and accompaniment by the Korean organist Kim Mi Hee.
The concert is part of the Terras sem Sombra Festival and is free of charge, upon collection of a ticket at the Arts Center reception.
Written in 1736 by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Stabat Mater is one of the most emblematic works of the European Baroque. Composed of 12 movements, it traces the Virgin's sorrow at the foot of the cross, alternating tenderness, drama and luminous spirituality.
In addition to the musical dimension, the presence of the Terras sem Sombra Festival in Sines adds the heritage component to the activity taking place on Saturday afternoon (15h00).
The action "Today as Yesterday: the Sines Cork Factory" will take place at the Sines Castle and will be led by businessman José Francisco Leal and the coordinator of the Sines Museum, architect Ricardo Estevam Pereira. Together, they will guide the participants on a visit to an infrastructure that is a trace of an industry, the cork industry, with a notable presence in this municipality.
On an election weekend, the usual Safeguarding Biodiversity activity was canceled.
The Festival Terras sem Sombra is organized by Pedra Angular. In this presence in Sines, it has the partnership of the Municipality of Sines and the Italian Embassy in Lisbon. It also has the support of the Directorate-General for the Arts.
