22: “Nteregu – A Story to Sing,” by Manuel Loureiro and Roger Mor
A visual and auditory poem that tells and sings the story of Guinea-Bissau’s music. From Tina to the culture of the Mandjuandadi, from the “griot” tabancas to the dance floors of Europe, this is a journey spanning centuries that reveals where modern Guinean music comes from and where it is headed. Ancient musical instruments and previously unheard testimonies reveal the power of music in Guinea-Bissau. Runtime: 94’
23: “Caliu: Nothing else, what else can I do?”, by Simona Constantin
The Romanian village of Clejani was once home to the legendary band Taraf de Haïdouks. After the group disbanded, violinist Gheorghe “Caliu” Anghel attempts to recapture those glory days with a new lineup and under a different name. What unfolds is an intense portrait of a brilliant artist and a difficult man. Runtime: 90’
24: “Orlando Pantera,” by Catarina Alves Costa
Orlando Pantera (1967–2001) was a talented Cape Verdean musician whose life was cut short at age 33, before the release of his highly anticipated solo album. This film revives his legacy through archival footage and musical reenactments. It features contemporary interpretations by artists such as Mayra Andrade and Princezito, demonstrating his influence on today’s musicians. Runtime: 107’
25: "Ao Son da Nova Regueifa," by Manolo Maseda and Saúl Rivas | celebration of Galicia Day
A deep dive into Galicia’s oral tradition, focusing on the art of regueifa, an ancestral form of sung and improvised poetry. Directed by Manolo Maseda and Saúl Rivas, the documentary travels across Galicia, from Bergantiños to Vigo, to show that this art form is not merely a relic of the past, but a living phenomenon that continues to reinvent itself.
