Óscar Restrepo, a poet of little-recognised merit, leads a solitary life marked by disappointment. His encounter with Yurlady, a teenage girl from a working-class background with a remarkable literary talent, changes the course of his life. Óscar persuades her to submit her poems to a national poetry competition. But things do not go as planned...

Balancing humour and melancholy, “a Poet” reflects on the condition of the artist, the persistence of creative practice, and the place of poetry in a world that rarely pauses to listen.
