On February 12 and 13, starting at 9:30 a.m., the seminar "Controlled Fire in the Algarve" will be held in Caldas de Monchique, with the aim of discussing the history, regulation, and future prospects of the use of controlled fire in the region.
The event will feature lectures by experts, debates, and a controlled burn in Foia.
Among the topics covered are the role of fire in the Mediterranean environment, the connection between winter fires and pastoralism, current regulations, and the opportunities and challenges for the future of controlled burning in the Algarve.
Program:
• Day 1: Opening session, lectures, debates, and closing.
• Day 2: Burning practice in Foia (weather permitting).
