“What Moves People – Aracelis | NEB Satellite Event 2026”,

The Chapel of Our Lady of Aracelis to Host an Official Event of the New European Bauhaus Festival 2026

On June 10, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Aracelis will host the event “What Moves People – Aracelis | NEB Satellite Event 2026,” part of the official program of the New European Bauhaus Festival 2026.

Inspired by the values of the New European Bauhaus—sustainability, inclusion, and beauty—the event offers a collective experience that brings together culture, innovation, local identity, heritage, and community participation, transforming Aracelis into a vibrant space where people, ideas, and communities from Portugal and Spain come together.

Throughout the day, the public is invited to participate in a diverse and immersive program, featuring inspiring conversations and discussions, a fair showcasing innovative projects, music and artistic performances, interpretive walks, participatory workshops, local cuisine and products, as well as spaces for socializing and reflecting on the future of rural areas.

Organized by the Baixo Alentejo Social Innovation Incubator and ccdr Alentejo, in partnership with the municipalities of Castro Verde and Mértola, the Ayuntamiento de Puebla de Guzmán, the parishes of São Marcos da Ataboeira and Alcaria Ruiva, and various cultural and regional entities, the event also has a strong cross-border dimension, strengthening cultural and institutional ties between Portugal and Spain.

Under the motto “What Moves People,” the initiative seeks to spark a contemporary reflection on inland regions, questioning what drives people to stay, return, care for, and build community in rural areas defined by identity, landscape, and a close relationship with nature.
