Brazil, 1977. Marcelo, a technology specialist on the run, arrives in Recife during Carnival week in the hope of reuniting with his son. Yet amid the vibrant community that welcomes him, he finds himself caught in an atmosphere of paranoia and danger. Constructed as a puzzle of intrigue and information, The Secret Agent reveals how truth is concealed and collective memory reshaped under oppressive regimes. Moving between intimate story and political context, the film reflects on how individual lives are shaped by systems of power and the social transformations that define an era.
