Ourique marks the 52nd anniversary of April 25

“This is the dawn I have been waiting for

The first day, whole and pure

Where we emerge from the night and the silence

And, free, we inhabit the substance of time”

The words of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen remain a clear synthesis of the meaning of April—the passage from night to freedom, from voicelessness to participation, from uncertainty to building the future.

In keeping with the principles of the Carnation Revolution and to mark the 52nd anniversary of April 25, the Municipality of Ourique is promoting, throughout the month, a series of cultural and commemorative initiatives, open to the community and geared toward different generations.
