With his captivating simplicity, Chilean writer Luís Sepúlveda takes us from the Amazon to the far reaches of Patagonia, without ever losing sight of the years of lead that followed the overthrow of Salvador Allende in 1973. A man of the left, he learned what it cost to resist, but he never gave up. As well as being a writer, he stood out as a political activist, journalist, screenwriter and film director. In exile, he lived in several countries, settling in Spain from 1997, where he died in April 2020, a victim of the first wave of Covid-19. He wrote 22 books, translated into 60 languages, of which more than 18 million copies have been sold.
