Open Days to the Planet #4

At the beginning of fall, Casa Novo Bowing is once again opening up to the community for the 4th edition of Open Days to the Planet. Two days of sharing and discovery, in which music, cinema, cuisine, words and gestures come together to celebrate diversity and imagine possible futures.

Between cooking workshops, small workshops, books, concerts, Bollywood cinema and tai chi & vocal journey, we've created a space for generations and cultures to meet, made up of simplicity, joy and mutual curiosity. An open invitation to everyone: locals, visitors, friends or the curious. There's always room for one more person.

CASA NOVO BOWING - Center for Planetary Relations is a space of shelter, creation and encounter, open to all, created as part of the "Novo Bowing" project. Based in Odemira, in the former Student Center, it hosts artistic activities that promote dialogue between cultures and the imagination of new ways of living together.

Workshop

INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP TO INDIAN CURRY

with Kulbir Singh, Simranjot Singh, Parvinder Kaur and Amandeep Kaur

A sensory journey to India through cuisine, guided by the knowledge and generosity of Kulbir Singh. Among aromas, spices and traditional techniques, participants will learn how to prepare different Indian curry recipes.

The afternoon culminates in a shared dinner, celebrating the dishes prepared and created together.

An encounter around everyday Indian cooking, where you learn the ritual of making chapatis at home and the oriental sauces that accompany them.

The experience is completed with the preparation of drinks emblematic of Indian culture such as Lassi and Tchai, shared in a relaxed atmosphere.

Workshop

INTERGRACE - TAI CHI & VOCAL JOURNEY

With Ariel and Leon Saponar

A two-hour immersive experience that interweaves the gentle, rooting movements of Tai Chi with the liberating experience of "Vocal Journey", a voice practice that combines vocal discovery and inner journey.

The session begins with breathing and the flowing forms of Tai Chi, awakening presence, balance and connection to inner stillness. From there, the voice opens up, exploring sound, vibration and resonance as paths of expression and liberation.

Body and voice together become instruments of awareness, inviting greater harmony, freedom and joy. No previous experience is necessary, just the willingness to move, breathe and sound.

NECKLACES AND BEADS WORKSHOP

A time of delicate manual creation, exploring patterns, colors and craft techniques to make necklaces for the foot, wrist and neck.

A workshop open to all ages, inviting concentration, detail and the pleasure of creating with your hands.

BUILDING DREAM CITIES

Colored books become blocks for imagining temples, skyscrapers, streets and markets. A workshop inspired by Italo Calvino's "The Invisible Cities", where each participant can invent and build their own utopian city.

MIRABOLANTE BOOKSHOP

The Mirabolante Bookshop sets up shop for an afternoon at Casa Novo Bowing, bringing with it books, novelties and unexpected encounters. An invitation to discover stories and authors, flip through pages and let yourself be surprised by the pleasure of reading.

THE MAGIC OF JAZZ - JAZZ AND NOT ONLY Combo by Associação Jazz e Não Só

with Vasco Agostinho, Kabir Gana, Joaquim Silva, Hugo Nóbrega, Luis Galvao, Luis Graça, Louis, Liv, Carlos Correia, Serena

Music and conviviality in the courtyard of Casa Novo Bowing: tables and chairs in the open air, young people who took part in Summer Bowing serving at the bar and, under the pine tree, the Combo of Associação Jazz e Não Só brings the magic of jazz to life. Between themes of different atmospheres and natures, the improvisation, rhythm and passion of Odemira's musicians, children and adults, come together in full harmony, open to anyone who wants to come and share this moment.

INVICTED

A film by Satyajit Ray

"The Undefeated", Satyajit Ray's second film and winner of the Golden Lion in Venice, is the central chapter of the famous "Apu Trilogy", which follows the protagonist from childhood to adulthood.

In this episode, we see Apu living between his home village of Benares and Calcutta, on a journey marked by separation from his mother and his desire for knowledge.

With music by Ravi Shankar, it is Ray's great film about the mother figure and about themes that mark his work: the passage from the country to the city, growing up and learning.
