Ancient traditions and flavors of the mountains bring Santana da Serra to life
The 24th Santana da Serra Fair – Traditions and Flavors takes place on May 30 and 31, with free admission, during a weekend dedicated to local products, cuisine, ancient traditions, music, and popular culture.
The program includes a small market, food stalls, stands, inflatable attractions, choral groups, concerts, and dances, featuring performances by Os Alentons, Nelson Santos, José Diogo Bento, Luís Contente, Alexandre Lucas, and Filomena Raposo.
Over the two days, there will also be children’s workshops focused on traditional toys and homemade bread, a literary gathering with local authors, a workshop on edible plants, and demonstrations of traditional crafts such as weaving, basketry, and rattan chair making.
This year’s edition includes the 2nd Agricultural Exhibition of Local Producers, the 2nd Garvonesa Cow Auction, a roundtable discussion with Garvonesa cattle breeders, and a tasting of meat from this breed.
The Fair is organized by the Santana da Serra Parish Council, with support from the Municipality of Ourique.
